Updated Business Regulations

25th September 2020

With so many changes being announced it can be difficult to keep up with the latest legislation and ensure your business continues to comply with all the COVID Secure guidance. We’ve done our best to highlight some of the recent changes here which will impact the most on many of the city centre businesses.

Face Coverings are now compulsory in additional locations including for all retail and hospitality staff working in customer facing areas of your premises. Government guidance states that face coverings must be close fitting over the mouth and nose so this does not include plastic face shields. The guidance applies to all staff, even those positioned behind Perspex screens. Full up to date guidance on face coverings can be found HERE

The NHS Track and Trace App is now live and it is a legal requirement for many businesses including hospitality sector, close contact services and leisure venues where people may spend a period of time to display a QR code. To obtain a unique QR code to display at your business click HERE

Hospitality Businesses must all close by 10.00pm, with all licensed venues offering table service only at all times. Full details on updated restrictions for this sector as well as other measures announced this week can be found HERE.

Local Measures for Lancaster include further measures to control the spread of COVID-19 throughout the county. Full details of the measures currently in force can be found HERE.

Lancaster City Council has a dedicated web page detailing all information, guidance and sources of support available in the district. This information can be found HERE
