Survey Shows Support for Local Businesses

7th May 2020

Lancaster BID recently shared a link to a national survey gathering information from residents about how they felt their habits may change when they are able to return to the High Street.

Analysis of the results of this survey is still ongoing and will help influence recovery plans for the city centre. However some of the headline highlights from the Lancaster district are clear.

The majority of people indicate that they will plan to meet with friends outside and make shorter visits to the city centre, spending less time inside shops when they are able to safely reopen. This highlights a need to ensure the use of outdoor space is considered to maximise trading opportunities for businesses.

On a very positive note responses indicated that people already feel they are more engaged in their local community and that pride in their neighbourhood has increased. Responses also indicate that people intend to support their local businesses more when the lockdown ends.

This is encouraging – although it can’t be denied there are still difficult times ahead, it seems that support from local people for local businesses is strong.
