Still time to vote for BID to win Tesco Grant

15th June 2017

There is still time to vote for Lancaster BID in local Tesco stores to increase the level of funding for our Pirate themed trail and activities in the city centre this summer. Voting closes on June 30th so visit Tesco to cast your vote for Lancaster BID today!

Lancaster BID is in the running to bag a cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative, funded through the 5p bag charge in Tesco stores. Customers are now being asked to place their votes to determine the size of grant received.

Lancaster BID is up against two other projects in Tesco stores in Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham and Carnforth and will receive funding of  either £1,000, £2,000 or £4,000 depending on the number of votes received. All money received will fund a summer of free family friendly pirate themed events including a Treasure Island themed Treasure Trail, throughout the city centre.

This coincides with the Dukes Play in the Park production of Treasure Island in Williamson Park and will bring a summer of FREE events for local families to enjoy.

BID Development Manager, Tom Fyson, said "We are delighted to be in line for this funding from Tesco and are asking local people to vote for us and help increase the size of our grant. Increased funding will ensure our summer activities offer something for everyone to enjoy and will boost footfall in the city centre. If you shop in local Tesco stores throughout May or June make sure you place your vote for Lancaster BID!"

Voting is open in stores throughout May and June. Customers will cast their vote using a token given to them at the check-out in store each time they shop.
