Return of the Gum Zappers

4th April 2019

Last week saw the welcome return of Gum Zappers to help tackle the eternal problem with chewing gum on the streets of Lancaster city centre.

With a focus on Church Street and North Road, in preparation for the new planting scheme, the Gum Zappers team cleared gum from 3,000 square metres of pavement making a huge improvement to the streets.

Lancaster City Council has pledged to continue this work and have their own backpack style gum removal machines which the cleansing team are fully trained to operate. They will be active in the city centre each week to keep on top of the chewing gum.

If you are aware of any particularly bad areas please contact the BID team on 01524 590650 or and we'll make sure they are included in the schedule.
