Lancaster BID is delighted to welcome Maria Chambers from Cancercare as a new member of the BID Management Board. This continues Cancercare’s longstanding commitment to Lancaster BID, originally through the previous CEO.
Maria is CEO of CancerCare North Lancashire and South Cumbria. She studied significant and complex needs at The University of St Andrews School of Psychology and gained her teaching qualifications at UCLAN.
She recently moved back to Lancaster from London where she was Director of Children and Young People’s Services for Scope and her most recent position was Director of Education and Development for Ambitious about Autism. Throughout her career she has developed and designed innovative, high-quality services with, and for, disadvantaged groups.
Maria is a trustee of Lancaster and Morecambe Citizens Advice Bureau and also Governor of the city’s Chadwick Centre, a school for pupils who require special educational provision.
Maria said: “My motivation to work on the board of the Lancaster BID comes from the desire to contribute to our local community and to represent charities in this forum. It would be a pleasure to work alongside the dedicated local business owners in our city to make it the best it can be for the people of Lancaster.”
