Long Standing Board Member Steps Down

Paul Cusimano - Board Director, Lancaster BIDIt gives me great pleasure to acknowledge the contribution of Paul Cusimano who will be stepping down from his role as Director with Lancaster BID at the end of April after many years of high level commitment to Lancaster BID. He has decided that the time is right to depart as he is leaving when the contribution of Lancaster BID is at a very effective and optimistic level of service to Levy payers.

As an independent retailer of quality clothing in the city, Paul has always brought his infectious personality and commitment to customer service to his loyal customers, but Paul’s commitment to Lancaster has always gone far beyond his shop front.

Paul’s dedication to Lancaster city centre is clear to all who meet him. Initially Chair of the Lancaster’s retailers group, Paul was integral in the steering-group which developed a BID proposal for Lancaster in 2012, bringing a range of people together to create ambitions to encourage people to visit the high street. Paul went on to Chair Lancaster BID for four years, following a successful ballot and renewal. Paul remained a devoted Director of Lancaster BID, member of the Management Board and Chair of the Events Sub-Group.

Paul championed issues affecting communities in the city centre and actively engaged with partners to find solutions. Recently this has included representing Lancaster BID on a multi-partner steering group to save the city centre CCTV, which was under threat due to funding cuts.As Chair of the Events Sub-Group, Paul galvanised ideas from other businesses which showed potential to encourage people to visit their high street. Paul was vital in developing Lancaster’s inaugural ‘Festa Italia’ which saw the city animated with all things Italian. A themed umbrella canopy was installed to promote this event which brought the business and residential communities together to celebrate the city and provides a legacy for the future.

Paul has been as passionate about day for day concerns of Levy payers such as pursuing loose cobbles or broken flagstones and such have been his connections he has always been able to speak to the right people to get problems resolved.Paul makes a selfless contribution and works tirelessly behind the scenes, never seeking the limelight for his contributions. On a personal note I would wish to publicly thank him for all he has done to support me personally and for being such a creative, able and highly professional Director.

Thank you Paul from all of us for all you have done and may you continue to thrive in all you undertake in the future.I would hope that anyone wanting to make a difference to the City and support the ongoing important work of the Lancaster BID should take inspiration from such a contribution and know that we would welcome a discussion with anyone how would like to get involved in Lancaster BID.
