Lancaster Business reaches Branson Competition Final
7th July 2016
A Lancaster business will pitch to Sir Richard Branson in the hope of winning a share of £1m next week after reaching the final round of the Virgin Voom competition.
Vibe Tickets, based in The Storey building in Lancaster, has beaten almost 3,000 other businesses to become one of six finalists in the Virgin Media competition for up and coming entrepreneurs.
On Tuesday the company will pitch to Sir Richard and other judges, including the supermodel Tyra Banks, Virgin Media Business managing director Peter Kelly, vlogger Marcus Butler, and US businesswoman Sara Blakely.
Vibe Tickets, established by Luke Massey, allows people to sell their tickets to concerts and events at face value without using ticket touts who inflate prices.
It will face competition from two other start-ups for a slice of the £1m prize fund.
Mr Massey, said: "We're absolutely delighted to have made it this far in the competition, and can't wait to pitch my idea to Richard Branson.
"We've worked hard to get here and it's been an incredible journey so far, we're really excited for the finale and the future opportunities this will bring."
Vibe Tickets reached the top 80 in a public vote after gaining over 2,500 votes, and then took part in a record-breaking 48 hour pitchathon.
After reaching the semi-finals, it took part in a workshop with experts, looking at every aspect of the business, before making it through to the final.
Sir Richard, the founder of Virgin, said: "Congratulations to Vibe Tickets for making it through to the finale of the Virgin Media Business Voom competition.
"They've shown they've got the determination and innovative flair we're looking for in a winner and I can't wait to meet them in the final."
