Lancaster BID - Future Priorities

6th March 2020

Thanks to all the businesses who took the time to complete our survey asking about your views on Lancaster BID and letting us know your future priorities for the city centre.

With responses from a range of businesses across all sectors, several headline trends have emerged. Marketing Lancaster as a destination easily stood out as the top priority with businesses clearly recognising that Lancaster has something to shout about and has potential to bring even more visitors into our historic city centre.

Initiatives to address levels of antisocial behaviour and help reduce crime in the city centre also scored highly with high levels of support to create a safe and secure city centre for everyone to enjoy.

Recent initiatives to install planters, summer bunting and bespoke feature lighting in ginnels have been praised with significant demand to invest in further physical improvement work in the city centre. Together with a focus on keeping the city clean this will help ensure a positive experience for everyone who lives, visits or works in Lancaster.

Finally the survey also highlighted the importance of the extensive programme of high quality public events taking place throughout the year. The events attract high visitor numbers and give a chance to showcase what Lancaster has to offer.

Do you agree with these headline findings? Do get in touch to let us know if you have any other priorities you would like us to address in the city centre.

2020 is a big year for Lancaster BID with our next ballot scheduled for November when city centre businesses will vote to determine our future. It is essential that our activities directly benefit businesses and address the issues which you feel are the most important. We will continue to consult closely with you and value any feedback to contribute to the development of our next five year business plan.
