Lancaster - A Safe City

20th April 2017

Lancaster BID is proud to contribute to making the city centre safe for everyone as a place to work, visit or live.

Lancaster BID contributes to safety on the street through our BID Ambassadors who are out and about on the city centre streets 16 hours per week identifying and highlighting any issues of concern and offering assistance where required. We are pleased to have recently contracted Castlegate Security to continue providing this service through 2017/18.

In addition to general support, our BID Ambassadors provides a 24 hour helpline which can be used by any Levy Payer who needs to get in touch or raise any issues outside of office hours. The Lancaster BID Ambassador 24/7 number is 07555242765.

If you are unfortunate enough to experience any crime in the city centre we actively encourage you to report it to the Police by calling 101 (or 999 for emergencies). Accurate levels of crime reporting assists the Police in being able to make strategic decisions regarding the deployment of their staff and other resources.

A further useful contact is available for anyone who has concerns regarding people sleeping rough on the city streets. Lancaster City Council offers support to genuinely homeless people and has a duty to help them find a home. To report homeless people near your business and help them get support you can contact Streetlink on 0300 500 0914 or visit www.streetlink.org.
