For those of you that I don’t know my name is Tony Johnson and I’m proud to be the new BID Manager for Lancaster. As a local lad born and bred I truly love Lancaster and the surrounding areas that’s why I have lived here all my life.
For the last 22 years I have worked in the commercial arena, firstly for The Lancaster Guardian and then for the last 20 years with Bay Radio (Now Heart FM), where I worked my way up from Sales Consultant to Commercial Director.
I’m coming to the end of my second week in my new and exciting role and I can honestly say I’m really enjoying it. I’ve been trying my best to talk and listen to as many business people/stakeholders as possible in that short time, and intend to carry that on. Put simply the business community in Lancaster City Centre is why the BID exists, so for me the most important thing was to find out what you like about Lancaster, what are the things that frustrate you and are there any issues that we don’t know about. If there are any issues I have to confess I probably won’t be able to sort every single one out overnight but by consistent two way communication we can at least start working on those issues.
For those who already know me, I’m looking forward to catching up with you over the coming weeks. For those I’ve not yet met, I’m looking forward to getting to know you. Please be open and honest with me as you’ll always get an open and honest answer back, and remember I like coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon!
