The highly anticipated Indie-Lancaster document is due to be launched at the end of June. The Indie-Lancaster guide, which is funded and created by Lancaster BID, will showcase independent businesses operating in the Lancaster BID zone.
Indie-Lancaster is a guide to the wonderful independent businesses operating in Lancaster city centre and comes hot off the heels of recent popular similar publications from Lancaster BID. In October 2018, Lancaster BID launched the Real Ale & Tipple Trail, which showcases a range of bars, restaurants and activities available in Lancaster after the shops shut and the sun goes down. Following this, Lancaster BID worked with Friends of The City Museum to launch the Lancaster Art Safari, which is a self-guided arts walk around Lancaster.
Lancaster BID Manager Rachael Wilkinson said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer our Levy paying independent businesses the chance to feature in this new guide. Lancaster city centre is made up of 62% independent businesses, which are the hidden gems of the business mix in the city centre, and are what make Lancaster such a unique place.”
“One of the fascinating finds which we discovered when looking at the Indie-Lancaster guide was the restaurants. We were delighted to learn that out of all the restaurants in Lancaster city centre, Bella Italia were the only chain restaurant in our BID Zone. This shows just how unique a place Lancaster is to dine-out, as Lancaster has an offer that you simply cannot find or replicate anywhere else in the country!”
“We wanted to create an Indie-Lancaster guide to support the smaller businesses operating in Lancaster, as these businesses don’t have vast amounts of marketing and communication expenditure to get their brand and messages across to new audiences. This guide will also be a great way to introduce new residents and students to the city and to the independent offer available.”
