Grant Funding for Businesses CLOSED due to lockdown

6th November 2020

Lancaster City Council has now extended eligibility for the Local Restriction Support Grants to any business which has been required to close as a result of the national lockdown.

Eligible businesses will get one grant for each property liable for business rates with Lancaster City Council.

Grants available (amounts subject to change)

  • If your business is eligible and has a property with a rateable value of £15,000 or under, you will receive grants of £667 per two weeks of enforced closure (£1,334 per month/4 weeks)
  • If your business is eligible and has a property with a rateable value of over £15,000 and less than £51,000, you will receive grants of £1,000 per two weeks of enforced closure (£2,000 per month/4 weeks)
  • If your business is eligible and has a property with a rateable value of £51,000 or over, you will receive grants of £1,500 per two weeks of enforced closure (£3,000 per month/4 weeks)

The City Council will endeavor to pay all successful claims within 5 days of receiving a valid application. Advance payments will be made for the current 4 week lockdown, with an additional retrospective payment for businesses which were required to close sooner when Lancashire entered Tier 3. Payments will also automatically continue for any businesses which continue to be closed due to any restrictions remaining in force beyond 2nd December.

Grants are currently only available for businesses forced to close due to Government restrictions. Further funding for other affected businesses is hoped to be launched soon and we will share details as soon as it is available.
