Go On An Art Safari This Spring

Lancaster BID have teamed up with Friends of the City Museum and local businesses to produce a new guide for Lancaster. The Lancaster Art Safari document, which is a self-guided walk, will help visitors and locals alike to discover art in Lancaster city centre.

The Art Safari guide, which is being launched to coincide with Lancaster and District Art Society’s annual exhibition on April 6, will be free to pick up at strategic points across the city.

The free guide features various galleries, shops and arts venues around the city and even a coffee shop and park! This guide showcases how much art there is to discover in the city in a range of unique venues.

BID Manager Rachael Wilkinson said: “We were thrilled when we were approached by Friends of The City Museum to work with them on this exciting new project for Lancaster. The arts is a vibrant, important and thriving sector of business in Lancaster city centre, and we are delighted to play our part in supporting the businesses included in the document.”

Julia Krier from Friends of The City Museum said: “The idea behind the Art Safari is to celebrate art in different places across the city. The launch of this guide coincides with the opening of the Lancaster and District Art Society exhibition at the City Museum, in which 80 artworks by local artists will be on display. We hope that visitors will be encouraged to make a day of it and explore the Safari venues across the city. We’re grateful to the BID for collaborating with us on this project, to Sally Seed at Stoneleigh Communications for finding the right words and to all of the fantastic participating venues for coming on Safari with us.”
