Lancaster BID staff are hard at work behind the scenes to make sure that the Christmas Lights display in the city centre is even bigger and better than previous years and is installed ready to be switched on to welcome everyone safely back into the city centre at the end of lockdown.
We are aware that the timing of lockdown has significantly reduced the number of Christmas Shopping days in the city centre this year. Lancaster BID has held discussions with Marketgate Shopping centre and St Nic’s Arcades who have both commited to an additional evening of late night opening each week in December.
Stores in both Shopping Centres will be opening late until 8.00pm on Wednesdays and Thursday evenings throughout December to help businesses regain a little of the vital Christmas trade which will inevitably be lost during lockdown.
Lancaster BID will promote late night opening on these days in our Winter marketing and would encourage other businesses to join in to benefit from the anticipated increase in footfall.
