Hollyoaks Star, CBeebies favourite and double platinum selling UK 1990s dance act to headline the Lancaster BID Christmas Lights Switch On this year.
It may seem too soon to start planning for Christmas, but at Lancaster BID plans are already well underway for the big Lancaster BID Christmas Lights Switch On. BID will be exhibiting at the North Lancs Business Expo this weekend with a Christmas themed stand to promote the fantastic upcoming Switch On show. Keep your diary free on Sunday 24th November for one of the biggest events of the year in Lancaster city centre. This year the stage show will be even bigger than ever with THREE headline acts offering something to delight the crowds of all ages.
Star of Hollyoaks and two times X-Factor contestant Jake Quickenden is set to delight the crowds singing some of his hits such as Blindfold and Black Mirror. Jake is also well known for coming runner up in I’m a Celebrity in 2014 and was the winner of Dancing on Ice in 2018. With so many TV appearances, Jake is very well known and is certain to draw in the crowds for the Lancaster Lights Switch On.
The younger audience members can also look forward to an appearance on the main stage by popular CBeebies favourite Mr Bloom. Mr Bloom’s Nursery ran for over 100 episodes and Mr Bloom also featured on many other CBeebies and CBBC shows ensuring he is a strong feature of growing up for a whole generation. Mr Bloom will be on stage earlier in the afternoon to really get the show started.
Also featuring on the main stage will be one of the biggest selling UK dance acts of the 1990s, N-Trance. The double platinum selling band have over six million record sales under their belt and still reign supreme on the dance floor. N-Trance will perform some of their renowned top ten hits which first catapulted them to fame over two decades ago. Still going strong, hits such as Set You Free, Staying Alive and Do Ya Think I’m Sexy are sure to get the crowds in Market Square dancing along.
The Christmas lights in Market Square will be switched on at 5pm. Additional viewing areas will be located on Horse Shoe Corner and Market Street to accommodate the thousands expected to attend the highly popular annual event.
Cancercare will also return to the city centre with their annual Santa Dash raising much needed funds to support local families affected by cancer. Sign up for a short fun run or a more serious 10k race to show your support. Remember that the child who raises the most sponsor money will get to join some of the headline acts on stage to switch on the Market Square Christmas Lights.
The Switch On Show marks the launch of the festive season in Lancaster with a programme of events and promotions still being finalised to draw the crowds into the city centre in the run up to Christmas. Lancaster On Ice also returns to Dalton Square from Saturday 23rd November. With their own plans to make the festive wonderland an even bigger attraction in 2019, Lancaster is certain to offer something for everyone throughout the festive season.
