Can you Help Eggcup find a Home?

25th September 2020

Eggcup is a local food surplus club supporting people with limited money to have access to a regular supply of food. During the COVID-19 Pandemic the team have been busier than ever and have been supported by CityBlock to make a temporary move in the old Coop building near Lancaster Bus Station.

The current premises are only available on a short term license and Eggcup are on the lookout for anyone who may be able to offer help with longer term premises. Whilst the pandemic and need for social distancing remains in place, requirements are for a warehouse area of up to 5,000 square feet and a shop front premises of around 500 square feet.

Premises need to be located in or within easy walking distance of Lancaster city centre, be fully accessible with no steps or barriers to entry and ideally on a very cheap lease or rent free license to enable limited funds to be utilised to support local people in need.

Eggcup are also looking for up to three people to join them as trustees to help guide them through the COVID-19 crisis and to help with diversifying into revenue-generating commercial activities.  Trustees are volunteers and meet as a board to receive reports and give direction to the manager.  It requires a time commitment of just a few hours each week with all work possible remotely and meetings via Zoom. A full role description can be downloaded here.

If you can help with premises or are interested in becoming a trustee get in touch direct with Deborah Finn, Chair of Trustees at [email protected] or 07709 546280.
