Poster of Lancaster event 'The Wandering Poet'Benjamin Guilfoyle a local performance poet and primary school teacher will be heading out on his first poetry tour to help raise money for the Lancaster and District Homeless Action Service and the Lancaster Children’s Library this May.

The tour is called ‘The Wandering Poet Tour’ and will see him walking just over 110 miles from Lancaster to his hometown of Brighouse in West Yorkshire. The tour will last for twelve days and will pass through twelve different towns. In each town he will be performing a poetry show with support form poets local to each town. As well as walking between and performing in Lancaster, he will also have stops in Garstang, Preston, Wigan, Bolton, Prestwich, Salford, Oldham, Littleborough, Hebden Bridge, Halifax and finally Brighouse.

All the money raised from ticket sales and on the night donations will be donated equally between the two charities. As the tour is in aid of the homeless shelter Ben will not be arranging a place to sleep, but rather he will be relying on the kindness of his audiences to put me up for the night or he will become homeless himself.
